2008-06-27

On November 8, 2007, in Shanghai—the “2007 Inverter Energy-Saving Industry Summit Forum and the Announcement of the Top Ten China Inverter Brands Satisfying Users—4th Edition”—was held at the Lujiazui New Century Hotel in Shanghai. The topic of inverter-based energy saving once again took center stage for cutting-edge discussion. During the forum, the “2007 China Inverter User Survey Report” was released. Powtran Technology was named one of the Top Ten Domestic Brands in China that satisfied inverter users this year; ABB, Siemens, and other international brands were recognized as among the Top Ten International Brands satisfying Chinese inverter users this year. Hosted by Electrical Times Magazine, the “2007 Inverter Energy-Saving Industry Summit Forum,” themed “Green, Inverter, Energy Saving, Innovation,” was co-organized by the Inverter Branch of the China National Electric Apparatus Industry Association, the Power Electronics Society of the China Electrotechnical Society, and the Editorial Department of the China Electric Apparatus Industry Yearbook. Pan Qi, Deputy Chief Engineer of the Institute of Mechanical Industry Information, and Zhao Xiangbin, Secretary-General of the Inverter Branch of the China National Electric Apparatus Industry Association, delivered remarks at the forum. Zhu Wei, Deputy Secretary-General of the Inverter Branch of the China National Electric Apparatus Industry Association, Xiao Xiangfeng, Secretary-General of the Power Electronics Branch of the China National Electric Apparatus Industry Association, and Li Yongdong, Professor and Doctoral Supervisor at Tsinghua University, each delivered insightful presentations on the current status of high-voltage inverters, the development and market conditions of power electronic devices, and the current state and trends in research on high-capacity inverters, earning enthusiastic applause from the attendees.

Currently, China is at a critical juncture in its comprehensive march toward a moderately prosperous society. The processes of industrialization and urbanization are accelerating, leading to a year-on-year increase in energy consumption. At the same time, China faces an international context marked by growing attention to economic globalization and environmental protection. As a result, China’s energy challenges will draw global scrutiny, making the country’s journey toward energy conservation, reduced consumption, and sustainable economic development even more daunting and urgent. Energy conservation and environmental protection have undoubtedly become the dominant theme of our times and a core element of a harmonious society. As one of China’s three fundamental national policies, energy and electricity conservation has received high-level attention from the government. According to relevant data, industrial electricity consumption accounts for about 70% of China’s total electricity usage, and within industrial electricity use, electric motors account for 60% of the total consumption, presenting a potential energy-saving opportunity of up to 33 billion kilowatt-hours. However, in terms of energy conservation and electricity saving itself, there are currently two key bottlenecks that need to be overcome: monitoring and measurement of energy efficiency. Yet one point is universally recognized—variable-frequency drive (VFD) technology for motor speed control is currently the most effective and straightforward means of energy conservation under existing conditions. Consequently, VFD-based energy-saving solutions have attracted considerable attention. The PS7000 Motor Environmental Protection and Energy-Saving Device, developed by Powtran Technology based on motor control theory, represents a groundbreaking achievement in the energy-saving industry! As one of the electrical journals published by the Machinery Industry Press, “Electrical Era” magazine has undergone 26 years of continuous development, establishing a distinctive and highly responsible brand image within the industry. To further underscore the magazine’s social responsibility, it launched an “Electrical Energy Conservation” column in 2005 to meet market demands. Moreover, in 2006, the magazine officially initiated the “Energy-Saving Innovation” series of events. By responding to contemporary needs and hosting the “Variable-Frequency Drive Energy-Saving Industry Summit Forum,” “Electrical Era” magazine once again demonstrates its commitment to staying abreast of the times and meeting evolving societal demands.
