Mr. Zhang, a representative of the Dalian alumni of Harbin University of Science and Technology, paid a return visit to his alma mater.

From May 24 to 26, a delegation of seven members—including Zhang Haijie, President of the Dalian Alumni Association; Fan Baocheng, Executive Vice President; Ren Dayong and Zhang Haidong, Vice Presidents; Zeng Yongchun, Director; Ma Yanli, Secretary-General; and Li Xuan, Executive Chair—returned to their alma mater for a visit and carried out activities aimed at aligning and advancing relevant projects. During their stay on campus, leaders including Zhao Guogang, Secretary of the University Party Committee; Li Dayong, President and President of the Alumni Association; Lu Yan, Deputy Secretary of the University Party Committee; Guo Erjun, Vice President; and Yang Chun, Vice President and Vice President of the Alumni Association, respectively met with and exchanged views with the Dalian alumni.
At 6 p.m. on the 24th, the university held a ceremony to appoint “University Student Growth Mentors” in the first conference room on the 10th floor of the Science and Technology Building. During the event, the Harbin Alumni Association engaged in extensive interactions with alumni from Dalian and the university itself. President Li Dayong, Vice Secretary Lu Yan, and Vice President Yang Chun attended the ceremony. Also invited to the meeting were Feng Yongqiang, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Harbin Electric Group Co., Ltd.; Zhang Rui, Secretary of the Party Committee of Harbin Motor Factory Co., Ltd.; Zhan Shufeng, Chairman of Harbin Northern Environmental Engineering Co., Ltd. and President of the Harbin Alumni Association; and Xin Limin, Director of the Office of the Harbin Municipal Administration for Market Regulation and Secretary-General of the Harbin Alumni Association. During the meeting, President Li Dayong welcomed the Dalian alumni group’s return visit to their alma mater and reviewed the exchanges and collaborations between the university and the Dalian Alumni Association. He particularly expressed strong appreciation and high praise for the “Alumni Home” in Dalian. The Dalian alumni group, in turn, expressed their deep affection for their alma mater and wished it continued success and prosperity. Following the meeting, the “University Student Growth Mentor” appointment ceremony was immediately held. President Li Dayong presented appointment letters to the Dalian alumni Zhang Haijie, Fan Baocheng, Zhang Haidong, Zeng Yongchun, and Ren Dayong, as well as to the Harbin alumni Feng Yongqiang, Zhang Rui, and Zhan Shufeng, thereby appointing these eight alumni as “Harbin University of Technology University Student Growth Mentors.” As members of the “Alumni Mentor Pool,” they will subsequently return to campus one by one to deliver lectures and workshops for current faculty and students.

On the morning of the 25th, a group of Dalian alumni, accompanied by staff from the Alumni Office, visited the Alumni Home, the West Campus, the South Campus History Museum, and the East Campus in succession. During the tour, the alumni were deeply moved by the tremendous changes the university has undergone, while also being reminded of countless cherished memories from their youthful days on campus. At the Alumni Home, the alumni collectively pledged, in the name of the Dalian Alumni Association, to donate a room that will be renovated into a tea lounge for returning alumni to enjoy. Throughout the campus visit, Secretary Zhao Guogang and Vice President Guo Erjun met with the returning alumni one after another, expressing the university’s warm welcome for their return and emphasizing the hope to strengthen cooperation between the university and its alumni for mutual benefit and win-win outcomes.
At 2:00 p.m. on the 25th, Vice President Yang Chun, entrusted by President Li Dayong, chaired a meeting to facilitate connections between Dalian alumni and the university in Conference Room 2 of the New Main Building. Attending the meeting were Yu Xiaoyang, Director of the Science and Technology Office; Zhou Changqun, Director of the Student Recruitment and Employment Office; Liu Lizhu, Dean of the School of Materials Science and Engineering; Chen Qingguo, Dean of the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering; Liu Xia, Dean of the School of Automation; Fan Jianying, Dean of the School of Measurement Control Technology and Communication Engineering; and Luo Xiaoguang, Dean of the School of Economics. At the meeting, Vice President Yang Chun congratulated the Dalian alumni on their achievements in their respective fields and praised the active efforts made by Dalian alumni-owned enterprises to seek collaboration with the university’s projects. Both sides engaged in an in-depth exchange on topics such as undergraduate talent development and industry-academia-research cooperation. Finally, the Alumni Office briefed the Dalian alumni delegation on the progress of the third Alumni Association leadership transition, as well as the activities planned to commemorate the university’s 65th anniversary and the 100th anniversary of Wang Daheng’s birth.
On the 26th, a group of Dalian alumni, based on their collaborative needs, separately visited the School of Materials Science and Engineering, the School of Measurement Control Technology and Communication Engineering, and the School of Automation, engaging in in-depth discussions and further coordination on specific projects such as industry-academia-research cooperation and the commercialization of scientific and technological achievements.
During their stay on campus, a group of alumni from Dalian, invited by the Harbin Alumni Association, visited and exchanged ideas at the company of Chairman Zhan Shufeng—Harbin Northern Environmental Engineering Co., Ltd. Throughout the visit, the university and the two alumni associations engaged in mutual interaction and heartfelt exchanges, and the warm atmosphere of alumni reunion brought the Dalian alumni’s return visit to their alma mater to yet another high point.
